How can I approve the registrations in advance before customers can access the locked page(s)?

We suggest you use the Plus plan ($10/mon) or Platinum plan ($25/mon) to do as your requirements.

Please follow:

1. Choose to hide or show registration page.

1.1. Show the registration page

Do you show the registration page for all visitors?

Whenever there is a newly registered customer, you can take time to verify their information and decide whether you want to grant access to the page(s).

Then, you can add a tag to separate their customers from others.

1.2. Disable the registration form in the app

In case you want to strictly manage the registration, you might want to disable the registration form and require visitors to contact you for an account.

In Disable registration form, choose Yes to hide the registration link and button in the storefront. This helps make your website members-only. Every visitor should contact you to create an account from the admin!

If the visitors try to access ..../account/register a message will be shown as your setting.

Then, you can create customer accounts from the admin and send the invitation to them.

Go to Customers => Add customer

Enter the customer information and Save the account.

2. Add a tag for approved customers

Whether the accounts are created from the storefront or the admin, you must determine the approved customers with a tag, say, "Qualified customers".

Go to the Admin panel => Customers.

Search and choose customers you want to add a "tag." Expand the More Actions, select Add tag.

Or you can add the tag on the Customer Edit Page.

3. Grant access to the page for approved customers

Under Rule Management, select “Create Rule.

3.1. Rule information

Under Rule Management:

  • In Rule Name, enter a name to help manage the rule more easily.
  • In Status, select Yes to activate the rule. Otherwise, select No.
  • In Date, pick a time period in the calendar to apply the rule in the storefront.
  • In Rule Type, select Force Login or Passcode
  • In Priority, enter a number to classify the priority of the rule in case there are several rules applied to a product, collection, or page. 1 is the highest priority.

3.2. Set "Rule Type" to "Force Login" and "Login Type" to "Login Form"

Under Rule Management:

  • In Rule Name, enter a name to help manage the rule more easily.
  • In Status, select Yes to activate the rule. Otherwise, select No.
  • In Date, pick a time period in the calendar to apply the rule in the storefront.
  • In Rule Type, select Force Login.
  • In Priority, enter a number to classify the priority of the rule in case there are several rules applied to a product, collection, or page. 1 is the highest priority.

Accordingly, set the Login type to Show Login Form.

Then, in Redirect type, choose a place to redirect customers after their successful login.

There are three options available.

  • Account Dashboard: Like the Shopify default function, customers will be redirected to the Account Dashboard page after logging in.
  • Custom Page: An additional field named Redirect URL is shown. Then, insert a specific URL to redirect customers after their login.
  • Restricted Page: Visitors will be redirected to the private page they are trying to access.

3.3. Grant access to the tagged customers

Under Apply to => Customers.

Choose Allow customers by tag(s) and add the tag, for example, "Qualified customers" like the one you created above. Multiple tags are allowed.

Also, enter a message for not the valid customer(s) to tell them how they can get access. This field is optional for a user-friendly experience.

3.4. Choose page(s) to restrict the access

Then, you can choose the page(s) you can choose the product page(s), collection(s), and any specific page(s) you want to restrict other customers from access.
